This year's Start! Lorain County Heart Walk was held on May 16 at Avon Commons in Avon, Oh. The Heart Walk's focus is to raise awareness and donations for the research of cardiovascular diseases and prevention.
The physicians at North Ohio Heart Center and Ohio Medical Group, recommend adding as many steps to your daily walking routine as you can, because this will help lower your risk of heart disease. Learn more about the Lorain County Heart Walk.
Ways to Add 2,000 Steps a Day
- Circle the block when you go out to get your mail.
- Join a charity walk.
- Pace while talking on the phone.
- Exit the bus 1 or 2 stops early and walk the rest of the way.
- Avoid elevators and escalators: Take the stairs instead.
- Park in the far reaches of the parking lot.
- Walk to a co-worker’s desk instead of sending an e-mail.

Or how about this? Try "retro walking." Walking backwards distributes your weight more evenly (be sure you're in a safe area and are aware of your surroundings). Source: HR Daily Advisor
